Tax Liability Reports - Quarter dates are out by one month
« on: July 03, 2009, 10:05:46 AM »

When generating the Tax Liability Reports the quarter default dates are out one month - i.e. Quarter 4 should be 1/04/09 to 30/06/09 but the report is created on 1/03/09 to 30/05/09.  I usually manually change this to get the right figurs.  Does anyone know how to change the defaults?

What version are you using?

Do you have the correct reporting periods set up in the preferences (under Taxation), or in the ATO supplier details (if using 08/09 or 09/10)?

The forum just timed out when I submitted a very long response to you.

Basically...(sorry - I can't rewrite all that again) your upgrade has failed, do you have more than 1 tax supplier (ATO, TAX OFFICE???), who is the tax supplier named under the Preference > Tax question (default tax agency)?, is the balance of the tax supplier you mentioned the same as the balance of the Tax Payable liability account?

Please advise.

I think the upgrade from version 2008-09 R6P might have something to do with this.  I am currently applying the patch ro 2008-09R8.  Then take a look at how everything looks.  Backup again.  Do you recommend I uninstall 2009-10 and start over?

See my other post re this Shirley - but yes - R6 caused many unexpected errors (it was the first multi-currency release for the 08/09 version).

Load R8, rebuild (3 times), have a look at everything.

You shouldn't have 08/09 when installing 09/10 either - this can cause errors as many files are shared. I thing Trebor quoted the correct support FAQ to help you through this. Always do a clean uninstall of the previous version before installing a new version - and never upgrade the old version (I know there is an option to do this - I guess they really have to offer this - but it leads to some minor quirks that can be avoided by a clean uninstall).

Thank you for your help.  I have uninstalled all versions of QB and installed QB 2009/10 from scratch, but still have the same problem with the default dates on the Tax Liablity Reports.
Checked the suppler Australia Tax Office and have quarter ending Mar/June/Sept/Dec - that's correct, right?

Finally fixed this, in company profile, company information, Report Information, I set the first date of tax year as June in error, it should be July.

Hi Shirley,

You must have had this problem from the very first time you set QuickBooks up then??? I must say I have never come across the incorrect date being set in this area before (it's usually in the quarter ending dates as suggested above). Will add this to my "fix" for this problem in future.
