Sorry if i'm posting in wrong place, or covering old ground, but I'm in desperate need of help!
Just bought a new business that was using quickbooks and retail POS (retail starter kit with 07/08 software). Unfortunately, old owner was totally incompetent and left things in a mess and left me with only the POS install disc. Have upgraded network and PC's and now cannot install quickbooks (no disc). Have D/L latest version of QB, but now POS software will not work with it. Please, if anyone can help a struggling business, it will be greatly appreciated.

I think this is a case where I would advise that you contact QB support.

Yes - the latest release of QB will not work with older versions of POS (sorry for late reply as I have been OS - this must have been very frustrating for you).

Next time, contact a QuickBooks accredited partner first - they will (should) advise the best and cheapest option (whereas QuickBooks will just sell you the software). Often there are ways around doing this.

For example, I could have provided you with the old QuickBooks disk - since it was paid for already I then could have given you the original installation code - therefore allowing you to keep using the old POS.

In saying that, I love the new POS/QBooks functions over what 07/08 could offer - especially with a large item list (say 3,000 items or more.
