Created sub-item quantities show as 0, even though parent item has quantities

Hi folks, first post here. Smiley

I am using QB Accounting, with inventory management.

I have created Item X, and then sub-items X1 & X2, which are basically item X, but named this way for sale in different channels ie. eBay, website.

I have set the quantity of X to be 5, yet when I try to create a sales receipt for X1 or X2, it says X1 & X2 have 0 quantities to be sold. Why is that? Since they are sub-items of X, if there are quantities of X, why are there no quantites of X1 & X2? Or is this not how sub-items work?

Thanks in advance. Smiley

I would suspect it should work upwards and not downwards.  The system can't identify which sub item the parent transaction goes to.  Rather you need to put an item in the sub item, and then you would see that roll up into the parent item....I just don't think it works the other way.

Cheers
