Converting estiamates to invoices
« on: February 10, 2011, 03:32:50 PM »

We have recently started to use the estimate function in QB Prem 2010. At first when we converted the estimates to invoices they were linked -ie. we could view the related invoice/estimate in the history of the other. Now they dont seem to be linking to one another, has anybody had this problem, and if so how can i fix it??
Thanks Smiley

Are still raising the invoice from within the estimate?  ie open the estimate and click on "Create Invoice" at the top of the window.

This seems to have been an ongoing issue that was inherited from the Intuit QuickBooks.

The short answer is that there is no way to 'fix it'...  But there is a fairly silly way to work around it.

Note: This work-around only is suitable if you have not implemented a Payment on the Invoice.
  • - Go to the Estimate
  • - Generate a new Invoice for the same line-items as the invoice that lost the link.
  • - Change the Invoice date and number to the previously created invoice
  • - Delete the initial Invoice that lost the link

By changing the details to the original invoice, you now have retained reporting the best you can.

Hope this helps
